Hollie, 94, a native and resident of Thibodaux, departed this life peacefully at 3:30 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, in her home surrounded by those who loved her. At that time, a golden heart stopped beating and hard-working hands were laid to rest. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Thibodaux. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Old Fountain Baptist Church Cemetery. To cherish her memory, she leaves behind two sons, Kerman R. Hollie of Thibodaux, and Keith A. Hollie of Ft. Worth, Texas; five daughters, Cheryl Hollie Hebert of Arlington, Texas, Margaret V. Noah of Thibodaux, Rochelle H. Graham of Duncanville, Texas, Bessie M. Clement of Patterson, and Janise W. Moses of Houston, Texas; one adopted son/grandson, Keith L. Hollie of Arlington, Texas; and grandson, Cory D. Hollie of St. Mary's, Ga., who she raised as a son. Mother will be missed by her fourteen grandchildren, Michelle Noah Duplantier, Ricole D. Brooks, Terrence, Ferrante, Arn and Germaine Noah, Lowell Brooks, Iris Anna Brown Armstead, Lisa and Michael Brown, Andrew, Andre and Ashley Hollie; her nephew, Felton Hills; great-nieces and nephew, Brenda Cahn, Sylvia Anderson, Cleveland Johnson Jr., 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Her extended families will also cherish the memories as well. Mother, affectionately known to a host of "other children" was the guiding light to all who knew her. Although not by birth, she loved as was loved by Keith Pettyjohn of Arlington, Texas, Jane and Dr. Neil Maki and their children of Thibodaux, Terry and Karen Albert of Thibodaux, Dr. Gregory Maidoh and family of Houma, Larry P. Boudreaux of Houma, Dr. John Landry of Minnesota, and Enos "Joe" Danos of Virginia. They will miss her warm smile, her words of wisdom and the fact that she was always there. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Barbara J. Hollie; one son, Lowell J. Hollie; sisters, Iona Greene and Mable Brown; brother, Rubin Brown; and granddaughter, Shawn K. Noah. She was born Sept. 22, 1918, to the late Margaret Lee and the late Matthew Hollie on Laurel Valley Plantation. She was baptized in 1932 by Pastor E.I. Langman at Old Fountain Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member and later as an elder for more than 80 years. Even while residing she continued her membership and remained a loyal and devoted member until her illness in 2012. She was a devout Christian and believed strongly in the Lord. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and St. Joseph Hospice of Thibodaux. Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements. ======================
