Pastor Cary Wayne Matthews, 65, a native of Gibson and resident of Schriever, 
died Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Tabernacle of 
Love Pentecostal Church in Thibodaux. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. 
Wednesday at the church, 

with burial in Tabernacle of Love Pentecostal Church cemetery in Thibodaux.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Reed Matthews; sons, Donell (Trisha) 
Matthews, Cary (Lenica) Matthews Jr., Alfron Matthews and Layotta (Niesha) 
Reed; daughters, Modonna Reed, Kubarra Reed and Rebecca (Justin) Matthews; 
brothers, Alfred Lee (Mattie) Matthews, Jerome (Rose) Matthews, Raymond (Marie) 
Victoria and Michael Matthews; sisters, Dabbre (Arthur) Smith, Clara Dell 
(Bernard) Calloway and Viola (Darrell) Short; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, McOliver Matthews and Marion B. 
Matthews; brothers, Oliver Donald (Gustavia) Matthews, Harry Matthews Sr. and 
Burnell (Ellen) Matthews; and three sisters, Zona Bell Jackson, Carolyn 
Victoria and Wollen Hayes.

Kennedy Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
