Joy Hanna Simons, 83, a native of Houston, Texas, and resident of Houma, passed 
away Monday, March 11, 2013.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Thibodaux Funeral Home.

She is survived by her daughters, Gay Christ of Houston, Texas, Patty Rainey 
and husband, Rodney, of Charlotte, N.C., and Amy Authement and husband, Perry, 
of Houma; son, Michael Simons of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren, 
Alexandra Berry, Nicholas Christ, Christopher Christ, Sarah Beddoe, Clayton 
Rainey, Laura Rainey, Kyle Rainey, Joni Pitre, Maggie Voison, Simon Authement, 
Jessica Graham and Perry Authement; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Faye Hanna.

In her spare time she enjoyed traveling and going on cruises to the Caribbean 
with her best friend, Genevia "Jinx" Diedrich. 
She retired after 20 years from Chabert Medical Center as an operating room 
supervisor. 
She was previously the operating room supervisor at Methodist Hospital in 
Houston, Texas, for Michael DeBakey's operating room suites in the 1970s.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
