Helen Harris, 77, a native of Terrebonne Parish, and resident of Houma, died 
Friday, April 12, 2013.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Houma 
and from noon until funeral time Saturday at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. 
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 

with burial in Southdown Cemetery.

She is survived by her son, Cavin (Sarah) Lewis; daughters, Emelda L. Twiggs 
and Wilma Jean Thomas; brothers, Earl, Willard, Sam "Sonny", and Edward Lewis; 
sisters, Doretha (Daniel, Sr.) Nixon and Dorothy (Earl Jr.) Harding; 13 
grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Welmon Harris; son, Melvin Lewis; 
parents, Samuel Sr. and Helena Sears Lewis; brothers, Robert, Samuel Jr., 
Alvin, Joseph, Samuel "Sambo" , James, and Ernest Lewis; and her grandparents.

Jones Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
