Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2013/f1304.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Ronald "Ronnie" Joseph Haydel, 75, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Trahan Haydel; daughters, Mrs. David (Tonia) VanAlstine, Mrs. James (Tammy) Watkins and Mrs. Michael (Teresa) Duplantis; brothers, Dr. K. Gerald "Jerry" Haydel, Dr. Robert "Bobby" Haydel and Dr. Richard "Dicky" Haydel; sisters, Judith "Judy" Henneberger, Kathleen "Kathy" M. Haydel, Patricia "Patty" Haydel and Margaret "Peggy" Estes; nine grandchildren, Erica Ellender McClure, Erich Vhan Ellender Jr., Raye Anne VanAlstine Trahan, Allyce VanAlstine Whitney, James Matthew Jr., Jacob Anthony and Mary Catherine Watkins, Evan Michael and Terese Marie Duplantis; and four great-grandchildren, Anna Raye and Amelie Clare Trahan, William Thomas McClure and Adelyn Marie Whitney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Henry Lawrence Haydel Sr. and Judith Ayme Haydel; daughter, Tara Lynn Haydel; brothers, Dr. K. Thomas "Tommy" Haydel and Henry Lawrence Haydel Jr.; and sister, Betty Jean Fakier. Affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Boom Pa," Ronnie was a practicing pharmacist for over 52 years. He was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales Academy and Loyola University, where he was a member of the Beggars Fraternity and the Blue Key National Honors Fraternity. He is the former owner of Haydel's Drug Store and Ronnie's Drug Store, and was a volunteer pharmacist for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a member of the Louisiana Pharmacists Association, a member of the National Association of the Board of Pharmacy, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Elks Club and a charter member of Ellendale Country Club. He was a former board member of the First National Bank and Whitney Bank, former President and board member of the Terrier Club at Vandebilt Catholic High School and was chosen as Alumnus of the Year in 1978. Besides the immense love he had for his family, Ronnie was greatly devoted and deeply passionate for Mardi Gras. He was a lifelong member, former President and King Terre XXVIII of the Krewe of Terreanians, and a lifelong member, former board member, and King Houmas LIV of the Krewe of Houmas. Also, he was a charter member of the Krewe of Hercules and a former member of the Krewe of Christopher. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. The family would like to thank everyone for all of their thoughts and prayers, especially those involved in his care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be sent to St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ======================
