Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2013/f1304.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Joseph Lee Jones was the firstborn of Esther Lee Jones and Octavia Smith Jones, August 30, 1937 in Houma. Joseph was called home to be with our Lord, Tuesday, April 2, 2013, after a long, hard battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Troy B. Smith Professional Services, 9013 Scott Street in Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, with the Rev. James Hicks officiating, with burial in Houston National Cemetery. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 50 years, Alyce; daughters Michele Holdman, Madeline Jones and Tiffani (Jerry) Jones Holmes; sons, Hayden (Michelle) Jones and Dana Jones. Sharing in the loss of their "Paw Paw" are his grandchildren, Ramona (Will) Hoggard Curry, A'lice Jones-Hudson, Briana (Joe) Rojas, Jermel Holmes, Alexis Jones, Aniah Jones, Hezekiah Jones and Josiah Jones. He also leaves to cherish his memory, eight beautiful great- grandchildren, Robert Mayfield, Taylor Mayfield, Jordan Curry, Jamera Jones, Xavion Hudson, Dominick Hudson, and Zoe and Sloane Rojas. He also leaves his baby sister, Gloria "Glo" Raglin; his brother-in-law of 41 years, Fred; three nephews, Fredric, Marcus, and Reginauld; special aunts, Annie Bell Caesar and Iola "Shirley" Bradford; and a host of special cousins and friends. Joseph was a proud graduate of Jack Yates Senior High School, class of 1955. After graduating from Yates, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, he also attended Washington State University. When he completed his tour of duty, Joseph was honorably discharged from the Air Force. Shortly after, he attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. In 1961, he began a long career with the U.S. Post Office, where he retired after 43 years of dedicated service. He met Alyce Mae Howard in 1960, and they wed in 1962. Joseph and Alyce have five adoring and loving children. Joseph was a dedicated husband and father. Joseph was an active member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and served as President of the Brotherhood, and was a member of the Men's Chorus. Troy B.
