Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2013/f1304.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Harold Matherne, 95, a native of Dulac, and resident of Houma, died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Verna Marie Michel Matherne; sons, Glenn Matherne and wife, Merril Gautreaux Matherne, of Houma, and Eric Matherne and wife, Jacque Dessino, of Portsmouth; daughter, Diane Matherne Barnhill and husband, Wilfred, of Houma; grandchildren, Brian Barnhill, Kimberly Barnhill Robichaux, Daniel Matherne and Michelle Matherne Richaud; and nine great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alzia and Eleanor Armond Matherne. Harold was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. He was an insurance salesman for 25 years at Chauvin Funeral Home and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Special thanks go to his caregivers, Dawn Barnhill and Yvonne LeBoeuf.
