A memorial service and celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Lockport. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Mary C. Pickett; daughters, Brenda P. Guidry and husband, Kerry, Sally P. Cheramie and husband, Joseph, Kathy L. Pickett, Connie P. Richmond and husband, Greg, and Bobbie Jo P. Thibodaux and husband, Mitch; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jimmie Pickett, of Oklahoma, Shirley P. Owens, of Oklahoma, Jerry Pickett, of North Carolina, and Geniavon Pickett, of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Mamie Greer Pickett. Bobby was born Dec. 14, 1935 in Paul's Valley, Okla. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until 1957. He had been a resident of South Louisiana since 1957 where he worked as a commercial fisherman until he retired in 2006. Bobby "Paw, Old Buzzard, Papa Bear, Sly Fox, The Sheriff and Poppa Doppla" loved his family, a good practical joke and watching UFC fighting with his sons-in-law and grandsons. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. "For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live in Him." (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10) "Miss Me But Let Me Go" When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little - but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take. And each must go alone. It's all part of the Master's plan, A step on the road home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, Go to the Friends we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me - but let me go. Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off is in charge of arrangements. ======================
