Horace G. Thomas Sr., was born April 3, 1928, and passed away Wednesday, May 1, 
2013.

Relatives, friends and members of Austerlitz Street Baptist Church, Nazareth 
Baptist Church, Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries, Spring Hill Missionary 
Baptist Church, and St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, are invited to attend 
the visitation and funeral. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time 
Saturday at Austerlitz Street Baptist Church at 819 Austerlitz St. in New 
Orleans. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with 
Pastor Edward W. Parker Jr. officiating. Dismissal and 

burial will be at St. Paul Baptist Church at 118 California St. in Lafourche 
Crossing, 
with the Rev. Russell Folse officiating.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Louise Thomas for 64 years; loving father of 
Cynthia Thomas Gant, Wayne (Bernice) Thomas Sr., Gail (David) Thomas Batiste, 
James (Patricia) Morrison Jr. and Claire Morrison; grandfather of Keita, 
Tayari, Rashaun and Troy Gant, Wayne Jr. and Duane Thomas and Chanelle and Ryan 
Batiste; great-grandfather of, Kiya Henderson and Troy Gant Jr.; and brother of 
Myrtle P. Every, of New Orleans, and Leroy J. Thomas of Pasadena, Calif. He 
also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Dennis Mortuary in New Orleans is in charge of arrangements.
