Mercedes F. Winston was born July 13, 1933 in Thibodaux, and died Sunday, April 
28, 2013.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Abiding Temple 
Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. 

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Moses Baptist Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.

She is survived by her children, Arnold and Rock Winston, Angelia (Marc) Smith, 
Phyllis (Gregory) Johnson, Jennifer (Eric) Pulley, Monica (Joseph) Stanton and 
Joyce Winston; siblings, Luella Rhodes and Mary Louise Williams; 23 
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Winston Jr.; parents, Jules and 
Elizabeth Brown Flakes; and siblings, Martha Flakes, Dorothy Davis, Eula P. 
Flakes Reado, Raymond, Jules Jr., and Lawrence and Eddie Flakes.

Littlejohn Funeral Home in New Orleans is in charge of arrangements.
