Marie Vivian Achee, 86, a native of Houma and resident of Baton Rouge, died at 
7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at St. Francis de 
Sales Cathedral in Houma. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. 
Wednesday at the church, 

with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Ann Achee Marks and husband, Warren of 
Houma, and countless nieces, nephews, godchildren, and dear friends who 
regarded her variously, but always lovingly, as "Marie," "Rie-Rie," and "Aunt 
Viv."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmore Achee and Vivian Bienvenue 
Achee; brothers, Henry, Phillip, Elmore, Richard, Maurice and Donovan Achee; 
sisters, Helen Rieve, Mercedes Reynolds, Frances Boyne and Agnes Tucker.

Marie, or "Aunt Viv," worked as an executive secretary at Exxon for her entire 
career, retiring in 1986. She travelled extensively throughout Europe and North 
America and was always open to new cultural and culinary experiences. 
After retiring, she was a volunteer tax preparer and also gave her time at Our 
Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She was an enthusiastic LSU 
football fan, who faithfully climbed the steps of Tiger Stadium well into her 
eighties. Most importantly, she was ever generous and kind to all who knew her, 
never forgetting a birthday, baptism or anniversary. Family and friends will 
always be grateful for her presence in their lives.
