Visitation will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Donaldsonville, and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Greater Israel Baptist Church in Belle Rose. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Greater Israel Baptist Church cemetery in Belle Rose. He is survived by his daughters, Lillie Mae Ealem, of Lemonville, and Debra Witaker, Linda Batiste and Wanda Batiste Flowers, all of Donaldsonville; sons, Albert and Lawrence Thompson, both of Jeanerette, Joseph "JoJo" Thompson, of New Iberia, Leonard Batiste, of Napoleonville, and Johnell Batiste, of Donaldsonville; brother, Lionel Batiste, of Donaldsonville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Riney Batiste; parents, Lillie and Ernest Batiste Sr.; daughters, Stacy Batiste and Gloria Ward; sons, Ernest Thompson and Lionel Batiste; sisters, Ida Mae Dunham and Lillie Mae Breaux; and brothers, Henry and Authur Davis. Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Donaldsonville is in charge of arrangements. ======================
