Evelyn Butler, 73, a native of Morgan City and resident of Patterson, died at 
1:16 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until funeral time Saturday at Good Hope Baptist 
Church in Patterson. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 

with burial in Shield Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Erwin Butler Sr., of Patterson; daughters, 
Claudia (Melvin) Schexnayder, of Niceville, Fla., Evelyn Cross and Yolanda 
Butler, both of Patterson; sons, Kenneth Evans, Anthony Evans, Samuel Cross 
III, Mark Cross and Murphy Butler, all of Patterson; stepchildren, Erwin 
(Ethel) Butler Jr., of Morgan City, and Betty Jo Butler, of Patterson; and 
sisters, Claudell Watson and Lillie Mae Charles, both of Morgan City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; 
daughter; and stepdaughter.

Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.
