Thomas Edward Lavender, 76, a native of Spartenburg, S.C., and resident of 
Bayou Black , died Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at the Unity Lodge 
No. 267 F and AM on Bayou Black Drive in Houma. There will be a service by the 
United Veterans League at 10 a.m. Saturday at the lodge. Masonic Services will 
be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bernadette Moore Lavender; son, Toby E. 
Lavender and companion, Beckie LeBouef; daughter, Felicia Lavender Giroir; 
brother-in-law, Karl Moore Sr. and wife, Angie; sisters-in-law, Charlene Moore 
Boudoin and companion, Tony Melancon, and Diane Moore Oncale and husband, Roy; 
and three grandchildren, Alexis Lavender, and Brandon and Scott Giroir.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Lavender; brother-in-law, Felix 
"Yicky" Boudoin; and sister, Jeanette Stewart.

Thomas was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua in Bayou Black. He was a 
retired outside salesman for Morrison Home Center. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran 
who served from 1954 to 1958.

Thomas was a masonic member of Unity Lodge No. 267 F and AM. He served as 
master in 2002 and district deputy grand master in 2005 for District 12.
He was a very devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and he truly 
enjoyed having his family, friends and neighbors come over to visit. He enjoyed 
working in his yard every day and planting a flower garden and trees.
We will all miss him.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Harry McGaw, Dr. Jeffery Long and all the 
staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. We also want to thank Dr. Brian 
Matherne and his staff and Dr. Stephen Charbonnet and his staff.
Thank you also to the staff of Terrebonne General Medical Center.
Our thanks goes out to all the staff at St. Joseph Hospice. They were just 
wonderful people who took great care of my husband, our father, and 
grandfather.

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
