Louis Ray Ponville, 77, a native and resident of Houma, died at 12:45 a.m. 
Monday, June 17, 2013.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at St. Francis de 
Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at 
the church, 

with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mercedes Blanchard Ponville; 
son, Steven "Steve" Ponville; daughters, Karen and husband, Doug Bruce, and 
Cheryl and husband, Gregg Denniss; grandchildren, Donny Boudreaux, of 
Shreveport, David and Josh Ponville, of Houma, Brittany and Brooke Denniss, of 
Houston, Texas, and Patricia Ponville, of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, 
D.J. McKinley, Brock Bergeron, of Houma, and Emily Ponville, of Atlanta, Ga.; 
sister, Brenda Malbrough, of Houma; and brothers, Reynold Ponville and Freddie 
"F.J." Ponville, of Houma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Friedman J. Ponville and Lillian Vidal 
Ponville; brother, Leonce Ponville; and sister, Ethel Sevin.

He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral and was retired from the 
oilfield after 46 years. 
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1955 to 1961. 
He was a very devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather 
and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Russell Henry, Dr. Edward Haight and Haydel 
Memorial Hospice.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
