Lois Chauvin Portier, 87, a native of Houma and resident of Chauvin, died at 
2:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2013.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Joseph 
Catholic Church in Chauvin. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. 
Tuesday at the church, 

with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church cemetery in Chauvin.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Kenneth Portier and wife, Mary, Dr. Ralph 
Portier and wife, Mary, Dr. Christopher Portier, Dr. Frederick Portier and 
wife, Becky, and Richard Portier and wife, Lourdes; daughters, Nancy P. LeBlanc 
and late husband, Larry, Carolyn P. Gorman and husband, Robert D., Edith P. 
Hollander and husband, Dr. Barry, and Jeannine P. Chauvin and husband, Philip 
Jr.; brothers, Henry Chauvin, Ferral Chauvin and Dewey "D.J." Chauvin Jr.; 21 
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clovis Portier Jr.; parents, Dewey 
Chauvin Sr. and Lucretia Lirette Chauvin; and sister, Duella Chauvin.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin and was an avid 
reader.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
