Gertie Mae Young, 67, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died Wednesday, June 
5, 2013.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Morning Star 
Baptist Church in Thibodaux. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 
the church, 

with burial in Morning Star Baptist Church cemetery in Thibodaux.

She is survived by her companion, Joseph "Blackie" Boyd; sons, Cornell (Sandra) 
Young, Troy Young and Donald Harley; daughters, Cynthia Young, Deanna Young, 
Sandy (Alvin) Young, Monica Young, Jacqueline (Blake) Joseph and Justice 
Harley; sisters, Barbra (Freddie) Gains and Dorothy Johnson; 22 grandchildren; 
and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gertie Young and Lillie Mae Johnson 
Young; son, Cormichael Young; and brother, Edward Johnson.

Kennedy Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
