He was a native and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00am at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Burial: St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. He is survived by his, Sons: Vernon Champagne and wife Catherine, and Tommy Champagne and wife Kim, Daughter: Judy Gaudet and husband Danny, Brother-in- Law: Alvin Bonvillain, Sister-in-Law: Marian Champagne, and Etta Lou Champagne, Grandchildren: David Gaudet, Christie Herradon, Katie Indovina, Sherry Kraemer, Verne Champagne, Brandon Champagne, Quinton Champagne and Nicole Champagne, Great Grandchildren: Megan and Hannah Gaudet, Amanda Ledet, Karley and Rebecca Herradon, Samantha and Katelyn Indovina, Justin, Hunter, and Sarah Kraemer, Conner Champagne,and Great Great Grandchildren: Jaydon and Jaxson Ledet. He was preceded in death by his, Spouse: Rose May LeBeouf Champagne, Parents: Sidney and Amanda Pitre Champagne, Son: Bernard Champagne, Brothers: Roy Champagne, Roland Champagne, Gilford Champagne, Sidney Champagne, and Raymond Champagne Sisters: Aurely Solito, Ethel Sutton and Betty Bonvillain, He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. He was retired from Butane Gas Company. Vernon was always found busy working on one project or another. He was a devoted husband to his wife and was married for 67 years. He was very proud of his children and he loved them very much. He was a member of Woodman of the World. The family would like to thank Heritage Manor for all their kindness and care. Vernon Champagne proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He fought in five major battles in Europe during the war. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
