He died peacefully at his home early Monday morning, July 15, 2013. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Napoleonville. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in St. Anne Catholic Church cemetery in Napoleonville. He is survived by his son, Paul L. Corde and wife, Tresa; daughter, Rita Corde Cade and husband, Jerry; daughter, Sister Thérèse of the Holy Face OCD (Kelley Corde); five grandchildren, Stephanie Corde Brescher and husband, Jordy, Ryan Corde, Kristen Corde, Sarah Cade Wade and husband, Bill, and Matthew Sean Cade and wife, Penny; eight great-grandchildren, Emily, Cameron, Gabrielle, Bailey, Rylee, Brantlee, Jace and Addisyn. He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Louis and Julia Feliu Laine; adoptive parents, Louis and Enola Clifton Corde; wife, L. Lorraine Kelley Corde; brothers, John, Louis, and Joseph Laine; sister, Hazel Laine; infant daughter, Carol Laine Corde; and granddaughter, Christina Little. Oscar attended Napoleonville schools and graduated from Catholic High School in Donaldsonville. He served in World War II in the European theater and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, on the GI bill and became an accountant. He was an active contributor to the community giving of his time, talent and resources. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Knights of Columbus, and he supported the Napoleonville Fire Department. He served as a town alderman and on the South Central Planning Commission. He retired as tax collector for Assumption Parish in 1985. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Assumption Parish Council on Aging, 166 Hwy. 1008, Napoleonville, LA 70398 or to the Napoleonville Volunteer Fire Department, Napoleonville V.F.D., P.O.
