Samuel James, 81, a native and resident of Terrebonne Parish, died at 12:55 
p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at New Rising Sun 
Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, 

with burial in Southdown Cemetery.

He is survived by his sons, Willie, Jessie, Frank, Samuel, Floyd, Danny and 
Kerry Sims; daughters, Lois and Rita A. Sims, and Ruby James; sister, Geraldine 
Williams; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ozeline and Hattie Turner James; wife, 
Rosie Galmore; former wife, Lillie James; son, Eric Sims; stepson, Gaylord 
Galmore; grandson, De'Anslen Sims; and great-grandson, Randell J. Robertson Jr.

Jones Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
