Hazel Hawkins Navarre, 89, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, 
died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Rocks of Ages 
Baptist Church in Houma. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the 
church, 

with burial in St. Luke Cemetery in Houma.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Collins and husband, Alfred; five 
grandchildren, Danielle LaGarde and husband, Joseph, Jermaine Carter and 
husband, Dustin, Willie Clark and fiancee, Crystal Daniels, Anthony Matthews and 
wife, Jamie, and Derrick Russell and wife, Roneshia; and nine great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Palm Navarre; and parents, Chester and 
Alberta Matthews Hawkins.She was a member of Rocks of Ages Baptist Church where 
she served as a deaconess, choir member and past church secretary. 

She was past president of 5th District Women's Day and President Emeritus of 
Louisiana Southern Baptist Association of The Fifth District 
She was a retired Principal of Southside and Smithridge School and was a member 
of Terrebonne Parish Retired Teachers Association.
She was employed with Terrebonne Parish School System for 30 years.
