A memorial service in Duke's honor will be celebrated at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at 11:00 am. Visitation begins at 10 am. Klaus is survived by his wife, Laura Elaine; daughter, Anna B Theiss, of Thibodaux; biological sons, Shawn (Lynette) Moore, of Pineville, and Dustin Whittaker, whereabouts unknown; stepdaughters, Brenda (Billy) Duhon Daniels, Katherine (Mickey) Duhon Basco, and Denise "Renee" (Louis Jr.) Dinnat, all of Pineville; stepson, Acel E Duhon, of Houma; 12 grandchildren, including granddaughters, Keila J. Theiss, of White City, Ore., Lauren Daniels, Andrea Maddox, Diana Dinnat and Delaina Dinnat, all of Pineville; grandsons, Jacob Daniels, and Kendall L. Maddox, of Pineville; one great-grandchild, Coley Maddox, of Pineville; brothers, Jerry Buckley, of Decatur, Ill., Johnny (Dottie) Buckley, of Tioga, and Walter (Barbara) Buckley, of Mattoon, Ill.; sisters, Margaret Ball, of Ball, Vera Christensen, of Puyallup, Wash., and Vivian Marie (Richard) Best, of Retsil, Wash.; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Janice) Miller and David (Joyce) Miller, of Pineville; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Buckley and Patricia "Pat" S. Buckley, of Decatur, Ill.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. Klaus was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, as well as brothers, Jack L., Richard, Charles E., Don, James "Gene", Clifford and Henry Buckley Jr. (infant); sisters, Betty B. Galiano and Doris "DeeDee" B. McMonagle. Klaus also had three brothers who stayed in Germany. They include Paul, Helmut and Karlheinc Theiss and their whereabouts/survivor status are unknown. Klaus, commonly known as "Duke" Theiss, was born, the youngest of four boys, to Karl Theiss and Margarete Wiegand Theiss, Dec. 14, 1944, in Frankfurt on the Main, Germany. He came to the United States with his mother and stepfather, Henry S. Buckley, Jan. 8, 1953, from Berlin, Germany via N.Y. Harbor, New York City, N.Y. After living in New Jersey and Hawaii, Klaus and his step-family settled in Gardner. Klaus served in the U.S. Army as a PFC/Marksman. His interests included muscle cars, eagles, orchids, and ceramics. Klaus also enjoyed storytelling, and his towering height intrigued most. He was a gentle giant with a German temper. On Oct. 1, 1988, he married the love of his life Laura Elaine Miller and they resided in Pineville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund. He will be missed by many. ======================
