Boykin, 73, was born August 2, 1940 in Beaumont, TX and passed away on September 6, 2013 as a resident of Thibodaux, LA. Burl graduated from Beaumont High School and was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. Burl was best known for his love of Rockabilly Music and his lively performances. He was a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He was also a 50 year member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 11:30 AM until funeral time at Landry’s Funeral Home in Thibodaux, LA. Funeral Services will take place at 1:00 PM at Landry’s Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane A. Boykin; his daughter and son- in-law, Elizabeth Ann McManus and Brandon Falgoust of Vacherie, LA; a daughter- in-law, Karen Boykin King of Oxford, MS; his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Ann Wall and Dr. Bill Wall of Baton Rouge, LA; his grandchildren: Erin, Luke, and Shelby McManus, Lily Belle Falgoust, and Burl Thomas Boykin; and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Burwell Boykin and Elizabeth Hoyos Boykin; his son, Burl Boykin Jr.; his brother, Lorenzo Boykin, and a granddaughter, Janna Claire Boykin.
