Herman Carven, 65, a native and resident of Terrebonne Parish, died at 8:33 
p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013. 

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Dularge Community 
Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, 

with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sims Carven; mother, Pearl Carven Nixon; 
sons, Hermon Jr., Lamont, Pablo, and Courtney Nixon; daughters, Tiffany, Tyna, 
Carmen, Passion and LaSylvia Nixon, Joy Allen, and Keoynna Causey; brothers, 
Wesley and Christopher Nixon; sisters, Rosa and Joyce Williams, Alice White and 
Deloris Holiday; 30 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Nixon; and sisters, Ellen Jones 
and Jerrylee Price. Jones Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.
