HERBERT J. "BOONE" HOLMES, a retired school bus driver with the Jefferson 
Parish School System, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at Ochsner Health Systems. 

He was 79, a native of Klotzville, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. 

Visiting at Williams & Southall Funeral Home, Napoleonville, LA from 2:00pm to 
4:30pm Friday, Sept. 13, 2013. Visiting at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 329 
S. Jamie Blvd, Avondale, LA from 9:00am to Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am 
Sat., Sept. 14, 2013. 

Burial in Restlawn Cemetery in Avondale, LA. 

Survived by his wife, Rosia Holmes of Avondale, LA; 3 daughters, Joyce Holmes 
(Ernest) of Metairie, LA, Felicia Holmes of Avondale, LA, and Stacia Holmes 
(Sullivan) of Westwego, LA; 5 sons, Herbert, Jr. (Gina) of Tickfaw, LA, Tyrone 
(Veronica) of Algiers, LA, Gregory (Demetrius) of Baton Rouge, LA, Wayne 
(Latrichia) of Laplace, LA, Kenneth (Tara) of Early, TX; 3 sisters, Vivian 
James (Clifton) of New Orleans, LA, Bernice Williams of Dallas, TX, and Rita 
James (Gerald) of Kenner, LA; 2 brothers, Warren Holmes of New Orleans, LA, and 
Varis Holmes of Detroit, MI; Also 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 
a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Clara Holmes; 3 sisters, Annabelle 
Buggage Jo Ann Adams, and Anna Brown; 2 brother, Alfred Holmes, Sr. and Vernal 
Holmes.
