Dorethe Lewis, 91, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Thibodaux, was 
born April 29, 1922, and died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013. 

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Allen Chapel 
A.M.E. Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, 

with burial in Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church cemetery. 

She is survived by her children, Inez (Lionel) Green, of Louisville, Ky., 
Lillie (Lawrance) Skinner, of Austin, Texas, Leona (Lionel) Trench, of 
Thibodaux, and Chris (Jean) Lewis; nine grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; 
and 73 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Inez Williams and Edward Kane; sons, 
John Lewis Jr. and Charles E. Lewis; brothers, Morris, Herbert, Lester and 
Phillips Kane; and sister, Verline Terry. 

Kennedy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
