All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ============================================================================= LOFASO, GERALD Gerald Francis Lofaso, a native of Houma and resident of Baton Rouge, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Friday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Houma. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with a private burial in Baton Rouge at a later date. He is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Chip Lofaso and their five children, Lee Patrick, Mary Pamela, Michael, John and spouse, Janice, and Matthew and spouse, Rose. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Andrew, Alaina, Adam, Brittany, Kelly, Matthew Jr., Megan and Zachary Lofaso; two step- grandchildren, Maddie and Payne Scott; and sisters, Betty Jean Shutts and husband, Jack, and Rosary Guidry and husband, Bert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hilda Lofaso; and daughter- in-law, Crystal Lofaso, spouse of Michael. He was born to Hilda and Frank Lofaso Sept. 4, 1931, in Houma. He lived in Houma all his life, but for the past three years he has resided in Baton Rouge. He graduated from Terrebonne High in 1948. He went to Nicholls and was elected as its first student body president. He then went to LSU and earned his Law Degree in 1954. Upon graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army. He served Terrebonne Parish as Assistant District Attorney and as State Representative. He practiced law in Houma for more than 50 years. His character impacted many people and he will never be forgotten. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
