Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Paincourtville. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church cemetery in Paincourtville. He is survived by his daughters, Chris Torres and husband, Roy, Emily Meyer and husband, Lon, Debbie Newchurch and husband, John, and Janell Gussman and companion, Raymond; son, Dwayne Sanchez and companion, Gina Boudreaux; 13 grandchildren, Roy Torres III, Paige Torres Burns, Jacob, Christopher and Judd Meyer, Nicole Talbot, Mike Hahn, Paula Meyers, David Newchurch and Jessica, Courtney, Logan and Madison Sanchez; 10 great-grandchildren, Royce and Kirstyn Torres, Steven and Sara Gros, Jonathan Burns, Nathaniel Percy Meyer, Tanner Dugas, Allie Berteau and Avery and Abigail Meyers; and sisters, Eunice Fairchild, Elsie Medine, Shirley Fremin and Ann Himel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Laurent Sanchez; parents, Omer and Delia Sanchez; brothers, Linas, Ulysse "Boo", T.J. and Fred Sanchez; sister, Ruby Holtrop; and grandsons, Jeremy Newchurch and Lauren Talbot. Pallbearers will be Roy Torres III, Jacob Meyer, Christopher Meyer, Judd Meyer, Mike Hahn, Logan Sanchez, David Sanchez, and Harry Holtrap. Honorary pallbearers will be Royce Torres, Steven Gros, Jonathan Burns, Tanner Dugas, Nathaniel Meyer, and Ricky Sanchez. He was a WWII veteran. He was very active in his St. Elizabeth Church community, was an usher for 30 years and served 15 years on the parish council. He was an avid sports fan, especially for LSU, and he enjoyed gardening. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice, his caregivers, Monica, Shonda, Carrie, Agnes, Cynthia and our special angel, Gayle Williams.
