Berger, 79, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. Visitation will be held in his honor from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux. A military and prayer service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux. He is survived by his daughter, Paulette Berger; stepdaughter, Velma Burton; stepsons, Douglas Wilcox Jr., Thomas Wilcox, and Joseph Wilcox; grandchildren, Jayson, Jennifer, Elisha, Brittany, Megan, Tristen, Jolie, Cohen, Tommy, Matt, Mike and Melissa; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Louise Berger; wife, Ruth Ann Berger; son, Patrick Berger; brothers, Elmo and Gerald Berger; sisters, Gloria Naquin and Rita Tabor; and grandparents. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years. He served in the Vietnam War for four years and also served in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Thibodaux Regional Medical Center Hospital as a security guard. Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements. ======================
