SHIRLEY D. BURD 

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with 
gladness.... Psalm 100:1. 

A retired Assumption Parish school teacher, she died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 at 
her residence in Belle Rose, LA. 
She was 82, and a resident of Belle Rose, LA. 

Visiting at Williams & Southall Funeral Home, Napoleonville, LA from 2:00pm to 
4:30pm Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. Visiting at First Israel Baptist Church, Belle 
Rose, LA from 9:00am to Religious Services at 11:00am Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 
conducted by Rev. Dr. Irving Brown. 

Burial in First Israel Baptist Church cemetery, Belle Rose. 

Survived by 3 daughters, Pamela (Phillip) Allen, Kamela and Mysti Burd, all of 
Belle Rose, LA; adopted daughter, Shenell Steward of Vallejo, CA; 3 sisters, 
Elaine Keys, Aldenia (Clifton) Arnold, and Ethel Carter, all of Belle Rose, LA; 
1 granddaughter, Kambria Lawdon of Belle Rose, LA; 1 great grandson, Hayden 
Turner of Belle Rose, LA; Also a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other 
relatives and friends. 

Preceded in death by her parents, Miller and Vera Dorsey; 1 sister, Hazel 
Martin; 1 brother, Nolan Dorsey, Sr. 

She was a member of many auxillaries of First Israel Baptist Church.
