Justilien Joseph Cortez Sr, 78, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died at 
1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2013.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home in 
Raceland and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at St. Gertrude Catholic 
Church in Des Allemands. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday 
at the church,

with burial in St. Gertrude Catholic Church cemetery in Des Allemands.

He is survived by his sons, Justilien Cortez Jr. and wife, Debbie, James Cortez 
and wife, Karon, and John Cortez; daughters, Joanne Newchurch and husband, 
Jerry, Louise Sassin and husband, Jeff, Sandra Loupe and Glenda Delcambré; 
brother, Jerry Cortez Sr.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Folse Cortez; parents, Ernest 
Cortez Sr. and Bernadette Grabert Cortez; brother, Ernest Cortez Jr.; and sister, Earline Ledet.

Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
