Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2013/f1310.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Verdie Louise Fontenot, 90, known as "Grams" to all who knew and loved her, a native of Eunice, was called home to Heaven Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013. She died peacefully in Houma at the home of her daughter. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Ardoin's Funeral Home at 1301 W. Laurel Ave. in Eunice. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Eunice, with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery. The Rev. Darren Eldridge will officiate. She is survived by her daughters, Connie Fontenot (Ted) Hicks, of Baton Rouge, and Cindy Fontenot Courville, of Houma; grandchildren, Shelly Hicks (David) Moran, Stephanie Hicks, Chris (Casey) Hicks, Kyle (Stacy) Hicks, Scott Courville, Chad (Christine) Courville and Jennifer Courville (Terrill) Theriot; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchidren; and one great-great- grandson. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dorestan and Mattie Fontenot; sister, Gussie Fontenot; brother and sister-in-law, Ixon and Grace Fontenot; and son-in-law, Herman Courville. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. She retired after 30 years of service with Bell South. She took a position soon afterward with Guillory Tank in Eunice before permanently retiring to enjoy life with her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. The family would like to thank Wendy Boudreaux, Marie Lee, Jenny Malbrough and Barbara Price for their help in caring for their mother and grandmother with love and compassion. The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to The Medical Team and St. Joseph's Hospice of Thibodaux for their compassion and help during this difficult time.
