Sgt. Brett J. Lange, 48, a native and lifelong resident of Centerville, passed 
away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, in Houma. 

A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Ibert's 
Mortuary in Franklin. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the 
funeral home. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at 
St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville. A Mass of Christian burial will be 
at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, 

with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Centerville. 

The Rev. Joshua Rodrigue from St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma will 
officiate. 
Pallbearers and providing special honors at the gravesite will be the Louisiana 
State Police Honor Guard. 

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Paula Guillot Lange; sons, Barrette and 
Brady Lange; parents, Carlin and Shirley Wiese Lange; brothers, Bart Lange and 
wife, Loraine, Mark Lange and wife, Roxanne, and Mike Lange and wife, Wendy; 
parents-in-law, Emmanuel and Mercedes Guillot; and numerous nieces nephews, 
other family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. 

Brett enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and spent his entire career in 
law enforcement. In his early years, he was a volunteer fireman and a police 
officer with the Franklin Police department. He moved to the St. Mary Parish 
Sheriff's Office until joining the Louisiana State Police where he worked for 
the last 23 years. He worked with Troop C and was currently working with the 
LSP Bureau of Investigation, Criminal Investigations Division. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Louisiana Troopers 
Charities, 8120 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, 

Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin is in charge of arrangements.
