Gordon Patrick Martinez Sr., 74, a business man and resident of Chackbay, a 
veteran of the U.S. Navy and a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor 
Catholic Church, passed away Wednesday Oct. 30, 2013. 

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Monday at Our Lady of Prompt 
Succor Catholic Church in Chackbay. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 
a.m. Monday at the church, 

with burial in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church cemetery in Chackbay. 

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Betty Lassere Martinez; 
sons Kevin, Gordon, Kent and wife, Michelle, Darryl and wife, Lourdes, and 
Damian Sr. and wife, Linda; brothers, Neil and wife, Kathleen, and Eric and 
wife, Debbie; sisters, Georgette Naqui and husband, Hashim, and Marybeth Groves 
and husband, Kenneth; ten grandchildren, Jessica, Vanessa, Damian Jr., Sarah, 
Peyton, Alyssa, Seth, Beau, Sean, and Bronson; and five great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Junius Daniel Martinez and Essie 
Gravois Martinez; mother-in-law, Gertrude Lassere Becnel; and fathers-in-law, 
Gaston Becnel and Numa Lassere.
