Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Boudreaux Potter, of Houma; son, Christopher Joel Potter and wife, Raquel, of Houma; grandsons, Stephen and Jonathan Potter; stepson, Kevin Burns, of Australia; stepdaughter, Dawn McKinnon, of Australia; brothers, Edward C., Theodore A. and Richard W. Potter; and sisters, Lucille Womack, Paulette Drott, Wilma Lockner, Elodie Johnson, Ethel Potter and Edna Warkow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel Elijah Potter Sr. and Ella Hitt Potter; previous wife, Enid Burns Potter; and sisters, Joan P. Woodall and Vickie Potter. He was a crane operator in the oilfield and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or any charity. Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements. ======================
