P.J. Rogers, 87, a resident of Des Allemands, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013. He passed peacefully at the South East Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands. A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Friday at the church, with burial in St. Gertrude Catholic Church cemetery in Des Allemands. He is survived by his wife, Genevia S. Rogers; son, Marlin Rogers and wife, Eileen; daughters, Cindy Braud and husband, Tommy, and Sue Hogan and husband, Bryan; brother, Roy Rogers; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philibert and Edna G. Rogers; brothers, Lawrence, Guy and Clarence Rogers; and sister, Gladys Rousselle. P.J. retired from Avondale Shipyard. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and served on the U.S.S. Boxer. He was a past Commander of American Legion Post No. 316 and past officer of the VFW Post No. 3750. He was a constable and served on St. Charles Parish Hospital Board. P.J. also served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Gertrude Catholic Church. He dedicated his life to his family, church and community. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made for Masses or to the South East Louisiana War Veterans Home. Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements. ======================
