Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2013/f1311.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Michael Mitchell Benoit, 75, formerly of Houma and Centerville, Miss., passed away at his Cullman, Ala., home Saturday afternoon, Nov. 9, 2013. He was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Houma, to the late Olen Joseph and Della Marie Garibaldi Benoit. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cullman, Ala. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Andrew Siegenthaler officiating. A graveside service will be in Gloster, Miss., at 4 p.m. Friday. He is survived by his wife, Julia Ann Crum; daughter, Sharon Ayers (Jim) Conners; sons, Ronald (Linda) Benoit and Thomas (Tonya) Ayers; sisters, Betty Artz and Diana (Louis) Marcel; brothers, Donald (Violet) Benoit and Barry (Sandra) Benoit; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth (Norris) Naquin and Constance (Jose) Cano; and brother, Charles (Anna Rae) Benoit. Michael grew up in a large Cajun family in the bayous of south Louisiana where his father was a trapper. After being injured in an oilfield accident, he completed his GED and enrolled in LSU. He was in the first class that graduated from the LSU Shreveport campus, receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1975. He became an enrolled agent and successfully represented numerous taxpayers before the IRS. He came to faith in Jesus Christ in 1979, and served the First Presbyterian Church in Houma as a deacon for a number of years. Moss-Service Funeral Home in Cullman, Ala., is in charge of arrangements. ======================
