Major Dennis Lawrence Cenac Jr., U.S. Air Force Retired, 72, of Gulfport, 
Miss., passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, in Gulfport. 

Visitation will be from noon until funeral time Tuesday at Our Lady of Fatima 
Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the 
church, 

with burial in Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors. 

He is survived by his wife, Marie Sylvia Cenac; children, James, Frankie, Amy, 
Jeffrey and Mary; stepchildren, Karen and Didier; sister, Kathleen; brother, 
Greg; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Emerite Cenac. 

Major Cenac was born in Houma, and had been a resident of the Mississippi Gulf 
Coast since 1984. He received his bachelor of arts degree in chemistry in 1963 
from Louisiana State University and his master's degree in counseling and 
guidance in 1974 from Troy State University. 
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1984, after 20 years of service. During 
his military career he served as Squadron Commander, Wing Chief of Maintenance 
Management, Chief of Avionics and Avionics Squadron Supervisor. 
He was the recipient of many meritorious awards and citations including the 
Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (twice) and the Commendation Medal 
(twice). 
After his retirement from the military, he was employed with the Catholic 
Diocese of Biloxi where he served as diocesan counselor. He was instrumental in 
the resettlement of refugees and was a caseworker as an immigration and 
naturalization assistance provider. He was an active member of Our Lady of 
Fatima Catholic Church. 

Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi, Miss., is in charge of arrangements.
