Himel, 87, a native of Labadieville, LA and resident of the Lower Texas Community, passed away on November 16, 2013. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at St. Philomena Catholic Church from 8:00 AM till funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be in St. Philomena Catholic Church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hula Diaz Himel; children, Robert Himel, Alice Himel, Angela Johnson and husband Michael, Janet Benoit and husband David; previous son-in-law, Wayne Bergeron; brother, Warren Himel; grandchildren, Stacy Benoit and fiancé Brent Aucoin, Wayne Benoit, Chad Bergeron and fiancé Misty Beard-Rogers; great-grandchildren, Caleb Compeaux, Colby Compeaux. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adam P. Himel and Agnes Gauthreaux Himel; sisters, Bernice Sevin, and Marjorie Daigle He served his country as a paratrooper in the Private First Class Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 515th Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II and received the World War II Victory Medal. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time at the camp with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He retired from Supreme Sugar Refinery after 40 years of service. The family would like to thank the team from Journey Hospice of Houma for taking care of him during his illness. Landry’s Funeral Home, Inc is in charge of arrangements. ======================
