"Buddy" Lavigne, 89, born on Avoca Island passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. He was raised in Ponchatoula and had lived in Thibodaux since 1948. As per his wishes, no services are planned at this time. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Ulmer Lavigne; children, John Lavigne and wife, Linda, of Evans, Ga., James Lavigne and wife, Jeannie, of Prairieville, and Melissa L. Gates and husband, John, of Fair Oaks, Calif.; seven grandchildren, David Lavigne, Laura Sanders, Rae Izzo, Jamie Lavigne, Jason Lavigne, Jan Easton, and Eric Gates; and seven great-grandchildren, Grant Sanders, Connor Sanders, Emma Izzo, Christopher Lavigne, Jordan Lavigne, Aiden Easton and Ethan Easton. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He as past commander of the American Legion Ferdinand Lefort Post 11 and a member of the Forty and Eighty Society. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Southeastern Louisiana State University and Master's Degrees in both Education and Mathematics from LSU. For many years, he was a Thibodaux High School mathematics teacher and assistant principal. His hobbies were woodworking and gardening. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Ferdinand Lefort Post 11. Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ======================
