Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafourche/obits/dateobits/2013/f1312.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Bessie Campeau Claudet, a most loving mother and homemaker, passed away with all of her children at her bedside on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at her home in Lockport, La. She was 99. Bessie was born in Lockport, La on April 10, 1914 and resided there most of her life. She was the second child of the late Lucius Vincent Campeau and Edna Marie Foret. In 1936 she married Aman Joseph Claudet and they shared life for almost 70 years. They travelled to many countries but she liked "home" best. She loved to cook and delighted with those enjoying her meals. She also enjoyed playing cards and helping out at the local hospital. Bessie was a devout catholic and devoted to St. Joseph. Her long marriage produced 8 children, all of whom survive her: Claudette Caldwell of Thibodaux, La; Louise Bourg (Avie) of Houma, La; Geri Munson (Richard) of Baton Rouge, La; Aman "Joe" Claudet, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Luling, La; Mary Martinez (Peter) of Raceland, La; Michel Claudet (Diane) of Houma, La; Rene Claudet (Barbara) of Lockport, La; and Denise Rome (Robert) of Thibodaux, La. Bessie made everyone feel special and that applied especially to all members of her extended family which includes 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters: Elsie Rupe of Lockport, La and Rita Crumhorn of Arabi, La. Bessie's husband, Aman , passed away on September 19, 2005. She was also preceded in death by 7 siblings: Edna Mae Boudreaux, Beulah Schermer, Nolan Campeau, Daisy Campeau, Wilma "Minnie" Callaway, Sadie Stewart, and L. V. Campeau, Jr. The funeral mass will be at 11:00am on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport, La. Visitation will be between 9:00am and 11:00am at the church. Interment will follow at Holy Savior Cemetery, Lockport. The family extends a special thanks to the group of sitters who provided such loving care in her later years: Susie Chauvin, Diane Clement, Charlotte Parr, Tammy Punch, Helen Siegrist, and Amaryllis Orgeron.
