Horace J. Cortez, 73, a native and resident of Choctaw, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 
2013. 

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until funeral time Monday at St. James Chapel in 
Choctaw. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, 

with burial in St. James Chapel cemetery in Choctaw. 

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Cortez; son, Kermit J. Cortez and wife, 
Lynette; daughters, Celeste C. Morton and husband, Don, and Leslie C. Duhé and 
husband, Clay; brothers, Clarence Cortez Sr. and Morris Cortez Sr.; sisters, 
Dolores C. Lester and Birdine C. Tabor; grandchildren, Shannon C. Pitre, Saraya 
L. Duhé, Shayna E. Duhé, Jovi Jon Duhé, Bryce Labat and Dione Breaux; and 
great-grandchild, Adelynn C. Pitre. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fritez and Eva Cortez. 

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
