Lucy Russo Gourgues, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Dec. 28, 
2013. 
The daughter of Italian immigrants, she was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a 
long time resident of Thibodaux. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at St. Joseph Co-
Cathedral in Thibodaux. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday 
at the church, 

with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. 

She is survived by her six children, Michael, Bob and Bill Gourgues, and Diana 
Luikart, Toni Hernandez and Missy Landry; 14 grandchildren, Michael Gourgues 
II, Matthew Gourgues, Helena Carroll, Olivia Doucet, Josh, Tina, John Paul and 
Patrick Hernandez, Leslie Favela, Jackie and Maria Landry and David, Ben and 
Anna Gourgues; and six great-grandchildren, Dennon, Dawson, Aiden, Abigaile, 
Madeline and Peyton. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Col. Harold Walter Gourgues; 
parents, Joseph Russo and Antionette Russo; brothers, Jackie and Larry Russo; 
sister, Anne Russo; and one grandchild, Katie Hernandez. 

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in church, 
school and civic activities in Lafourche Parish and Thibodaux. 

Landry's Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of arrangements.
