Elsie Jean Rice Ledet, 75, a native of Toledo, Ohio, and resident of Houma, 
died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Samart Funeral Home in Houma.

She is survived by her sons, Walter "Joey" Ledet, Mickey J. Ledet and fiancee, 
Barbara Plake, and Brian K. Ledet and wife, Jequetta; daughters, Darlene 
"Jeannie" Walter and husband, Raymond, Sheryl-Lynn Melancon and husband, Fred, 
Cindy L. Ledet and companion Charles Bergeron, and Geri Lynn Surreira and 
husband, Paul; sister, Julie Rice Malbrough and husband, Harold; the Tribe of 
numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and former companion, Glyn 
LeBeouf.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Leonard J. Ledet; parents, 
Walter Rice and Catherine Jenkins Rice; stepmother, Mary Locklear; sons, Barry 
and Ricky Ledet; daughter, Marla Billiot; brother, Walter "Bobby" Rice; 
sisters, Catherine Fanning and Mary A Price; and grandchildren, Allen Joseph 
Ledet, Paul A. Hebert and Camen and Michael Billiot.
