Amos Smith Jr., 69, a native of Montegut and resident of Houston, Texas, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Friday at New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be at noon Friday at the church. He is survived by his children, Frederick (Ashley) Smith, of Virginia Beach, Va., Carol (Clarence) Davis, Darryl (Vertinia) Smith, Estella (Rodney) West, Amos G. (Ivy) Smith and Antoinesha Smith, all of Houston, Texas; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Isiah Smith Sr., of Houston, Texas, Lionel (Gloria) Smith and James (Vanessa) Smith, of Houma; and sisters, Noeme Harris, Hazel Brown, of Houston, Texas, Sarah (Herbert) Joseph, Ora (David) Glover, Fannie Coleman and Yvonne Smith, all of Houma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Allridge Smith and Amos Smith Sr.; brother, Belvin Allridge; and sister, Eva Gibson. He was the pastor of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Frazier-Mitchell Funeral Home in Houston, Texas, is in charge of arrangements. ======================
