Gouaux, Sr., 91, a native and resident of Lockport died peacefully at his home on January 14, 2014. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. by a memorial mass at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Thibodaux. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Gray Gouaux; children, Susan G. Hagman (John),L. Phillip Gouaux, Jr. (the late “Pixie”), and Jayne G. Bordelon (Lee); 7 granddaughters, Dionne G. O’Brien, Andrea Gouaux, Jeanne Gouaux, Louise G. Lawson, Aimee G. O’Gwynn, Mattie Gouaux, Ashleigh Bordelon and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Frank and Mathilde Robichaux Gouaux; his son, Peter Gouaux; siblings, Frank, Eugene, Milton and Marie Louise Harang. Mr. Gouaux was a pharmacist and owner of Gouaux’s Drug Store in Lockport for over 40 years. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University and Loyola University. He was a Navy Lieutenant in WWII and served in the Pacific. Mr. Gouaux was a die-hard supporter of LSU football and personal friend of the late Coach Charlie McClendon and staff. He was very devoted to his family and community all of his life. Mr. Louis was known for his kindness and generosity and has touched many lives throughout his lifetime. One of his favorite sayings was “When I die, I want my tombstone to read, ‘I told you I was sick; It didn’t happen by accident;.com.’” Donations in his name can be made to Journey Hospice or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank his caretakers and Journey Hospice for their compassionate care. ======================
