Leola Allen-Hanzy, 81, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Gibson, 
died Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:06 a.m.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at the church. The funeral 
will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at St. James Baptist Church 
in Gibson. 

Burial will follow in St. James Baptist Church cemetery in Gibson.

She is survived by: one son, Frederick Hanzy; six daughters, Loretta (Reginald) 
Clay, Cassandra (Kerry) Smith, Henrietta (Leroy) Nixon, Jessie Mae Hanzy 
(Vincent Jackson), Sharleen (Michel) Charles, and Malerie (Jerod) Singleton; 
one sister, Elza Burton; one daughter-in-law, Linda Hanzy; sixteen 
grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and three great-great 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jessie Hanzy; son, Horace Hanzy, 
Sr.; her parents, Charles, Sr. and Edna Williams-Allen; six brothers, Judge, 
John, Henry, Charles, Jr., Leroy, Sr. and Peter Allen; two sisters, Henrietta 
Allen and Gertrude Ross; and three grandchildren, Kennique and Dominic Hanzy 
and Raissia James.

Jones Funeral Home of Houma in charge of arrangements.
