Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off, with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Church cemetery in Cut Off. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Brenda Williams Hymel; sons, Carrel (Nicole) Hymel III and Dwayne (Donna) Hymel; stepsons, Eric (Bonnie) Callais, Dexter (Nicole) Callais, and Blake (Catherine) Callais; daughters, Dena Hymel, Darlene H. (Chic) Ramirez, and Teri H. (Omar) Ortega; brothers, James "Fry" (Lois) Hymel; sisters, Veronica H. (Butch) Callegan and Sallie H. (Roger) Young; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrel Hymel Sr. and Janice M. Hymel; and in-laws, Andrew "Pep" and Bertha Williams. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and traveling. He worked and retired from Edison Chouest Offshore after 25 years.
