Frances Mead Lester, 83, a native of Rome, N.Y., and resident of Houma, died 
Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Samart Funeral Home in Houma and 
from 9 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church. A Mass of 
Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, 

with burial in Rogers Cemetery in Houma.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Joseph Lester Jr. and Shayne Andrew Lester; 
daughters, Beverly Lester Breaux and Deborah Lester Guidry; sister, Wilhelmina 
Alfreda Mead Plato; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert Joseph Lester Sr.; parents, 
William Henry Mead and Helen Grogan Mead; son, William Alexander Lester; 
brothers, George Emerson Mead and John Henry "Jack" Mead; sisters, Helen Mead 
Sykes and Sarah Elizabeth Mead Dilks; and grandchildren, Don Michael Ratcliff 
Jr., Hunter Joseph Lester, and Don Glen Thornhill.

She was a longtime Andrew Johnson Sr. Center Manager and parishioner of St. 
Louis Catholic Church.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
