John Nevis Sr., 78, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died 
Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Residence Baptist 
Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, 

with burial in Union Benevolent Cemetery. 

He is survived by his son, John Nevis Jr., of Houma; brother, Robert Nevis, of 
Houma; daughter, Bridget (Garrett) Vavasseur, of Houma; and four grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Nevis; parents, Alfred and Annie 
Collins Nevis; brothers, Alonzo, Roosevelt, Ruben, Clarence, George and Alfred 
Nevis Jr.; sisters, Nonie Campbell and Helen Bell Lyons; and grandparents, 
Wiltz and Victoria Collins. 

Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
